One Planet United Speaker’s Bureau Bio

Born in Queens, New York, Wardah moved to Florida as a toddler and has been living in South Florida ever since. Through her friendships, she has always surrounded herself with people from many cultures and grew to love diversity. She is passionate about her faith and her field of Education.

Growing up as an American Muslim, she would often witness a variety of discrimination due to ignorance and bigotry. These experiences have only assured her that change must start one person at a time following the philosophy, “God will not change the condition of a people, until they first start with themselves.” (Qur’an 13:11). She agrees with the quote of Nobel Peace Prize recipient Lester B. Pearson who said, “Misunderstanding arising from ignorance breeds fear, and fear remains the greatest enemy of peace.”

She is actively involved in a youth organization called FAYM (Florida Association of Young Muslims) created to teach, mobilize and inspire the young people to rise up and become active and contributing citizens and human beings. She hopes her optimism for life and passion for peace and diversity will be the driving forces as she continues in this journey called “life.” She recalls the famous lyrics which portray how real change can happen: “I’m Starting With The Man In The Mirror/ I’m Asking Him To Change His Ways/ And No Message Could Have Been Any Clearer/ If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place/ Take A Look At Yourself And Then Make A Change.” (Michael Jackson “Man in the Mirror)

Currently, she attends Florida Atlantic University pursuing her degree in Secondary English Teacher Education. She resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
